2022 is a whole new approach! After five years of 7 artists creating 7 or more new works in 7 days, we're taking a tip from last year's theme and simplifying things and focusing on smaller casts and solo work. As always, we're working in partnership with Lanesboro Arts. Stay tuned for more details!
Our Latest Adventures are State-Funded! Thank you to SEMAC (Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council) & MSAB (Minnesota State Art Board) for your generous grants supporting our work.
Year 5: Simple Gifts was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Lanesboro, Minn. – Catherine Glynn's A.R.T. (Audacious Raw Theater), Lanesboro Arts, and Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center proudly presented Audacious Raw Theatre Year 5: Simple Gifts on Saturday, July 17 at 7:30 pm at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center's North Campfire Ring.
We gathered in the woods to share and delight in the Simple Gifts eight generous and inspiring performing artists from around the country created!
From July 11-July 18, 2021, A.R.T.'s Founder, Catherine Glynn, collaborated with seven other professional performing ARTists. For those seven days, Eric Carranza, Aurelia Clunie, Rayna Jhaveri, Dominque Jones, Penelope Walker, Hilary Williams, Jerome Yorke, Jr., generated over seven new devised theatrical works.
We define devised work as original theatrical performances built from the ground up through conversations, writing, movement exploration, and improvisatory theatre techniques. Throughout our week together, this extraordinarily talented and diverse ensemble teased out personal and unique performances about family, the environment, technology, and what it means to be human in this day and age.
We shared these new works with live audiences on July 17 at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center's North Campfire Ring--a beautiful outdoor amphitheater in the woods of Southeastern, MN.
Year Five's theme, "Simple Gifts," stemmed from our year of lockdown, where life became both far more complex and also very straightforward. This year, ARTists embraced our inner Thoreau and went to the woods to recreate and re-Create ourselves deliberately. As we banded together, we kept the mantra "simplify, simplify" at the top of our minds--striving to make the work as distilled as possible.
Additional Free Events Included:
Saturday, July 17, 9 am-12 pm: The ARTist Are Present at Sylvan Park.
Sunday, July 18, 10-10:45 am: Sound Circle at Eagle Bluff's North Campfire Ring (Public is encouraged to bring instruments for this!)

One of the most powerful ways we can confront, unlearn and heal the systematic racism (sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, narcissism, etc.) that is rife within our community/country is to face it head-on.
Catherine wants to listen to and share your story (or a fictional character's point of view) and cultivate it for the world to hear! Please feel free to submit a monologue to us and we'll either upload your video or have a member of our A.R.T. ensemble perform it for you.
The idea is to gather new stories that expand beyond our comfort zone and address expanding diversity and tackling racism in our small Northern town.

If you want help cultivating a monologue, whether it be autobiographical or fictional...
ALL ARE WELCOME.
